So another year rolls in, and another long-awaited bluebells season! This is an extremely popular time for family photography. Of course, there are many reasons why you’d want to wait until May/April for your family photo session. Warm, dry weather is one of them 🙂 But the opportunity to have your children’s photographed in a carpet of bluebells is also a very strong contender!
Every year during April and May, I photograph several families at a picturesque woodland location near Winchester. Itchen Woods is one of the country’s most famous bluebells locations, with its striking display of blooms and delicious golden light on a sunny day.
It is one such day last weekend, that I had the pleasure of photographing the W family again. Bluebells portraits have become something of a tradition with this Newbury family, whom I last saw three years ago. The time had come to update the portraits of their beautiful daughter A, so off we went for a morning of family portraits at our go-to woodland location. It was, as always, a pleasure to spend time with A, who has become a confident, smart young lady with an irresistible sense of humour. Here is one of my favourite images from the day, whilst I edit the rest of the set for the family to view.
Families as far as London visit the Hampshire countryside every year, to have their portraits taken at some of the country’s most idyllic locations. So why not leave the City behind for a day, and come over to Hampshire to explore the big outdoors? I would love to join your family for a few hours and document your fun day with your children. I have extensive knowledge of the most child-friendly photo spots around Winchester and the New Forest. Just drop me a line now to start planning your next family photography experience.
