I realised that I never made a full post of one of last year’s most natural and heartfelt newborn sessions – baby Nathan at three weeks old, photographed with his mummy, auntie and cousin at his home in London, Kensington.  His intense gaze, directed at the camera but especially to his mama, made these images some of my all-time favourites. And that head of hair – oh my! So lush that I could not bear to pop even a little hat on him 😉 It was also very special to photograph him in his mummy’s original moses basket – again, one of the perks of visiting my families in their homes.

Is your baby older than the “standard” two weeks that most newborn photographers recommend as the ideal time frame for newborn portraits? No worries! Your new baby may be more alert now than when he was just a few days old, but that can add another lovely dimension to his first photos. More eye contact and interaction with you, maybe even that precious first smile – that can all be captured at an older newborn photo session.
