For my most recent baby photo session, I visited this lovely Saudi family at their beautiful home in London Mayfair, for baby Nora’s newborn portraits. Nora surprised her parents by arriving a few weeks earlier than expected. At three weeks old, she was a very calm and happy baby with big eyes and a beautiful, full head of dark hair. She was just as happy to gaze contentedly at the world around her, as she was being held and simply dozing off after a good feed.
Nora’s parents wished for a classic, yet contemporary look for Nora’s baby photos. Mum had brought some of her original baby gowns and blankets from her own first days – beautifully crafted pieces that we incorporated in many of the images. As with all of my home photo sessions, we also used the interiors features to create a unique backdrop to the family portraits. I was absolutely spoiled for choice in this wonderful period building, with its immense windows flooding the rooms with natural light.
We started off with some Dad-and-daughter portraits both indoors and outside, in the garden. Daddy was completely smitten with his little bundle and just could not stop smiling – we like that! I also captured some very tender moments between Nora and her grandmother, as they snuggled up by the window. Finally, we concentrated on a variety of ‘solo’ newborn portraits of Nora, capturing all those gorgeous new baby details – the lips, the eyelashes, the tiny hands and feet – as well as her spontaneous movements and expressions. Newborn Photography at home in London, Hampshire and Berkshire
Photographing babies in their homes, using nothing but natural light, produces a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal for natural newborn portraits. With all comforts and essential equipment nearby, new parents need not worry about long journeys across town, and can instead fully enjoy their baby’s first photography experience, safe in the knowledge that their memories are in my capable and experienced hands.
With clients based all around London, Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, I am quite used to travelling for my newborn photo shoots.
