I do love seeing my families time and time again. And each time, we all marvel at how quickly time flies, and how fast our children grow. This was certainly the case for the Y family, whose baby Joseph I photographed two years when he was a week old newborn baby. Fast forward to 2019, and little Florence (swooooon at her gorgeous name!) has just joined the family – which can only mean one thing: it’s time for portraits again!
The whole family travelled from Winchester for their session at my Basingstoke studio. It was great to see everyone again and of course meet the brand new young lady! It was also the first time I photographed Dad, as work commitments meant he could not be there last time around. I am always excited to capture a portrait (or three!) of the whole family together , so once everyone was settled and relaxed, we started with some natural family photos.
Once we finished with the first part of the family portraits, we focused on Florence’s solo portraits, and ones with Mum and Dad.
Joseph was torn between interest for the whole photo session experience and a touch of shyness, so we decided to give him some space and wait for him to come round to the idea of sibling shots. As we came towards the end of the session, I was just taking some last images of Florence on the studio bed…
… when suddenly, Joseph decided that the moment, albeit brief, had finally arrived! So this happened…!
The moment was only very brief – we are talking seconds rather than minutes – but we were all really glad to be able to finish off such a wonderful photo session with some cute (and definitely very true to life!) sibling shots.
